Glossier: Round 2

HAPPY HALLOWEEN AND GLOSSIER UK LAUNCH MONTH!

My second Glossier delivery arrived this morning! My delivery was smaller this time and the majority was reordering items I bought the first time- so that’s a testament in itself! This time in my Phase 1 set, for a change, I chose birthday balm which I am alarmingly excited about. It sparkles and smells of cake. No more explanation needed.

Please see below the link to my first review where in more detail I go through lots of the products.

Tomorrow, I am attending a Glossier Cocktail Party in Manchester which I’m super excited about! I will update this post with any good pics from that on Sunday!

Beauty Review: OUAI Wave Spray

Processed with VSCO with m5 preset

FINALLY!!!

I have my hands on a product from the OUAI product line created by Jen Atkin, hairstylist to Bella Hadid, the Kardashians/Jenners, Chrissy Teigen and many more. I wanted to buy everything, but I refrained and thought I should test out one product to start with to check if the hype is justified. I have started with the wave spray in the mini bottle. I have sort of shoulder length hair with lots of layers because its so thick- if you’re thinking shag, you’re bang on. I like to have a tousled, wind swept look which happens to be one of Jen Atkins well known styles which she creates using the wave spray to give the hair some texture.

So, for starters the product smells amazing, like a great perfume for your hair. It’s not at all a heavy smell or one that smells distinctly of anything particular, but it smells sophisticated in a fresh from the salon way. It’s important when applying it to have it a fair distance away from your head, so that the spritz isn’t too heavy on one area as this can make it clumpy and sticky. However, applied lightly over the hair, this spray is far less heavy and sticky feeling than any other I have tried before- this includes Bumble and Bumble surf spray. I applied it after curling my hair and before brushing it out to help retain just the right amount of tousled wave. I ruffled a little more through my hair before leaving the house. It’s definitely important not to go overboard otherwise it can spoil the light feel of the product.

I would definitely buy this product again and I’m really keen to try more from the OUAI hairline.

Summer Beauty Wishlist

Sol de Janeiro, Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, £18– For a peachy bum on the beach this summer you need this cream. It’s enhanced with guarana, a native Amazonian plant that is one of the most potent forms of caffeine on the planet – perfect for stimulating circulation and keeping posteriors at their smoothest.

Mio, Body Brush, £14.50 – For anyone with cellulite or jiggly bits that they would like a little smoother and firmer this product is perfect. I have been using this body brush for a month now and have notice my skin feels smoother and firmer. I also find the process of brushing itself quite therapeutic!

OUAI, Rose Hair and Body Oil, £25– Though it seems to be selling out everywhere I really want to get my hands on this product. I have yet to try any products from the OUAI range (fun fact Ouai translates roughly to YASS in french) but I love Jen Atkins styling and the brands aesthetic.

The staples in my make up bag

Base:

The LB cream, The Base by Lara Bingle- I started using this brands products a few years ago and have been reordering ever since. The LB cream is my everyday staple as it gives a really light coverage that gives your skin a really fresh dewy finish. It feels more like a tinted moisturiser than a foundation, I’m not a fan of heavy products so it works great for me all day and going out in the evening too. It has SPF 15 protection which is always a plus!

Concealer:

Mac Pro Longer Concealer- This is the bomb. For both under eyes and blemishes its amazing. Due to wearing a very light base I need my concealer to do most of my covering work. It’s liquid formula is very heavily pigmented but also very easily blended. A tiny bit goes a long way.

Cheeks:

Kevyn Aucoin Sculting Powder- I have been using this for 4 years now, and it works miracles. This is one of those products that quickly becomes a staple part of your make up routine. The reason I really love this product is it’s simplicity, it doesn’t contain any shimmer or glitter, nor does it have the orange tint many other products do. It helps add definition to your facial features but without an overwhelmingly contoured look. It retails at £35 and the wonderful thing is you only need a small amount of your brush to make a huge difference so it lasts forever.

Glossier Cloud Paint in Beam- I have always avoided blushes because I have a natural tendency to go a bit rosie, especially when drinking alcohol, but I have to say I love the effect of this product. The peachy tone doesn’t make me look flushed but healthy and warm like you do on holiday.

Eyes:

No7 Eyelash curlers- Most days I don’t wear mascara so a quick going over with these curlers is enough to open up my eyes.

Brows:

Glossier Boy Brow- A swoop over with this helps to really define the shape of my brows and catch those lighter hairs so they look bolder. I like my make up to be quick to do, I haven’t the time/effort for contoured brows, so this perfect for me to get that natural full brow look.

Lips:

Blistex- When it was -10 degrees on a holiday in Stockholm this was being passed between me and my friends like a precious treasure, it being the only lip product to save our lips. It’s since been my go to every time. If I’m going to wear lipstick, I always dab on this at the start of my make up so that its nicely absorbed to apply my lipstick at the end.

Beauty Review: Glossier

My patience finally snapped and I couldn’t wait for Glossier to offer UK delivery any longer. After a long winded- and costly- process I have finally got Glossier!

I purchased both the Step 1 Skincare set and the Set 2 Cosmetics, along with super pure serum and cloud paint in ‘Beam’. The packaging is amazing, everything arrived in white boxes, with the recognisable pink pouches inside. The products were actually surprisingly miniature, but I think for both the lipstick and brow wand it actually makes the products much easier to use. The cleanser, foundation and serum also have clever pump or drop action tops which means you only get as much product as you need.

The Step 1 Skincare kit includes the milky jelly cleanser, priming moisturiser, balm dotcom and the perfecting skin tint in medium (this has recently removed from this set but can be individually purchased). All the products are quite light, not at all harsh on your skin, and leave my skin feeling balanced. The pure serum I also tried is amazing! I’ve had far less break outs since using this once a day before moisturising and any blemishes have been quickly minimised.

The cosmetics are similar in that they are light on the skin, looking to enhance rather than create a make-up look which I personally prefer. Stand outs are the stretch concealer which does just that, despite being well pigmented it sits so comfortably on the skin with a soft, moisturised feel unlike any other concealer I have had before and the boy brow which gives me the full eyebrows I have wanted for so long.

I could not recommend their products enough, particularly for anyone who prefers a natural make-up look. I’m just holding out for UK shipping to reorder!
